Some people like to be informed and keep up with the latest . They read everything they see, such as magazines, newspapers and books. They may be interested in politics, , sports, technology, and the list goes on.

For those people, what better incentive to learn a language than doing it while being informed on the issues that concern them?

Some time ago, Voxy was released. Its release (still in its beta version) was a success since it revolutionized the language learning market thanks to its format and content. Voxy is unlike any other learning system or platform. Its concept is very new.

Voxy’s goal is to help you learn a language through a dynamic that collects information on current events from different fields. It is divided into the following sections: current events, pop culture (entertainment news) and sports. It’s as if you were reading the newspaper, but the information on these topics is available in three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. For instance, you can learn how the Tour de France ended, with more or less details depending on your level.

Some of the best things about Voxy are the advanced and dynamic interfaces it has. In every article you can hear the pronunciation or look up a word. After reading any news article you can take a test to find out if you understood the content. You can also add words to your personal dictionary and you can find a variety of applications for all tastes, all with the same purpose: to help you learn.

For now, they only have an English version, but they have promised to keep adding languages. They advertise Voxy as being a learning program that only requires 3 minutes a day, through daily articles and news about what is going on in the world. The information can be delivered via SMS, e-mail, through their website or an application for your cell phone. Every day you get a new lesson.

I signed up to try it out. I really liked the graphics and the way the content is displayed. Obviously the news articles are quite short and if you really want to find out what is going on in the world, you will have to read a newspaper in your own language. In addition, there is also only one article a day, per subject. Anyway, I liked it and it helped me add new words to my vocabulary.

I think it’s a good and innovative learning method, which will probably get better with time.
