TAUS Industry Leaders Forum in Dublin

A Global Get-Together – Part I

Perhaps this post should have been called, “Is the industry evolving; and, if so, where to?” To answer these questions <a title="Trusted Translations” href=”https://www.trustedtranslations.com” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Trusted Translations could not miss the chance to spend last week between Dublin and London. So, off we went!

TAUS Industry Leaders Forum in Dublin confirmed that the translation/localization industry’s dynamic evolution is undeniable. However, there are still great gaps when compared to other verticals. For instance, presentations and breaking sessions at this forum disclosed how much is still ahead in relation to important topics such as IP (Intellectual Property) and standardization.

Just as many other industry leaders, we understand that there is also a clear trend: the inexorable importance that automation has acquired lately.

Interest has shifted from source content development and internationalization in preparation for a later localization towards the assets needed to speed up the conversion process into target languages in order to reach higher efficiency levels.

It is also clear that two main streams will tend to diverge: the ones in need of terabytes of information that need to be translated in real-time, “on the fly,” compared to others who will continue to strive for a niche, high-quality output. In this regard, I bet we will all agree that Facebook’s needs for scalability aimed at expanding their users’ base from 1 billion to a potential 5 billion users worldwide are significantly different than those of a heavy machinery manufacturer like, say, John Deere, with its highly technical operating manuals.

All in all, we are proud to have been a part of this think tank’s effort to set goals and paths to be followed in order to keep pace with the changes imposed by this no-turning-back globalization phenomenon.

Stay tuned for my next post on Localization World in London!
